COOL WRITER BLOGS

Nina Nelson, whose Bringing the Boy Home placed third in the 2004 W.I.N. Competition and went on to win the Ursula Nordstrom contest and is being published in 2008 by HarperCollins shares the new Class of 2K8 blog with me: http://classof2k8.com/ I can hardly wait to see whose in that group with her.

Tami Lewis Brown, who won the Non-fiction category in the 2006 W.I.N. with Soar, Elinor!, shares a blog she and some writer friends run where they talk about their craft, the business, upcoming releases, what it's like to collaborate, and more.

Because inspiration comes in a lot of forms, sometimes children with a special message, I'm including this blog by author Michelle Brownlow, where she chronicles a little boys fight with brain cancer: http://michellekemperbrownlowwrites4kids.blogspot.com/

YA Writer teaming up for interactive Q&A, interviews with newly published authors, and oh, so much more! www.yaauthorscafe.blogspot.com

Jane Yolen is my personal hero, for many reasons that are probably obvious - she's closing in on 300 books published, plus hundreds (thousands?) of stories, poems, articles, and so on, and she's one of the most generous writers out there in terms of sharing her experiences and advice for newer writers (like me) - and several reasons that are personal and I won't go into here.  This is her online journal, though, and I invite each of you to drop by and read some of the most casually brilliant writing on writing you'll ever find. www.janeyolen.com/journal.html

Author-illustrator Katie Davis offers free games and activities, online videos forparents and teachers who want to get their kids excited about writing, as well as info on new projects, and an inside look at an artist's studio! http://authorkatiedavis.blogspot.com .

Author Mary Bauman-Kruhm is documenting the research and writing of her children's non-fiction work, A Masai Warrior: Living his Dream, Protecting the Land at her blog. http://marybk.blogspot.com

Wendie Old has joined the blogging generation, too. Wendie's great about giving daily reports from whatever conference, workshop, or convention she's attending. Come visit to get a wonderful perspective from this experienced author and children's librarian. http://wendieold.blogspot.com/

C. Hope Clark is one of the most important people a new writer in any genre will want to read. She runs Funds for Writers, a newsletter that features great contests (fee and no-fee), grants, jobs, and more. This blog has all of that and her personal journey to published novelist-hood. (Plus, she's a total hottie! <g>) www.hopeclark.blogspot.com

Wil Wheaton is all grown up from his days as Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation and movies like Stand By Me. Now he's a professional writer, voice actor (if you're a Teen Titans fan, you've heard him as Aqualad) and sometimes poker player. His blog is one that I read a couple of times a week because, while I'm not a big poker fan, his writing on being a husband, father, life in Hollywood and elsewhere, and on being a writer are just inspiring. Well worth an hour or so of your time to read this one: http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/.

Award-winning author Lee Wardlaw, who wrote the very first picture book that I went out and purchase because I'd talked to this famous author in this online email community thing and she was just so nice...The Tales of Grandpa Cat...waaaaaay back when I first joined this wonderful community of human beings, in 1996.
