The No Fee Contest Book: 2nd Edition
by C. Hope Clark, Editor of FundsforWriters.com

You are a struggling writer trying to call the little money you make from your passion an "income."  You'd give up your best pen to win a $1000 writing competition, but the fee is $25. All of them charge fees, so you quit considering writing contests. Well - don't.

C. Hope Clark comes to you with an alternative - The No Fee Contest Book: 2nd Edition . In her research through FundsforWriters, she's identified over 190 writing competitions that don't charge even a single dollar - your hard-earned dollar - for your contest submission. The contests, including available online links, comprise an ebook that not only includes these golden opportunities, but also contains Hope's usual opinion and advice on writing competitions.

The No Fee Contest Book: 2nd Edition has double the contests of its predecessor first edition. Hope weeded out the old and brought in the new - a lot more new competitions to whet your appetite.

If you know FundsforWriters, you know the quality of Hope's research and advice. Always working for the career or wanna-be career writer, Hope gives you the best of what FundsforWriters has to offer through her publications

The Maryland Writers Association (MWA) 2006 Novel Contest
is open.  Information can be found at: http://www.marylandwriters.org/contest2006.html

2005 Winners can be found at: http://www.marylandwriters.org/contest2005-winners.html .
Some of them have used their win to acquire contracts and
agents. We will have a "past succeses" web page up soon.

Short bios for the 2005 Judges can be found at: http://www.marylandwriters.org/contest2005-judges.html

The Maryland Writers' Association (MWA) is a voluntary,
not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the art,
business, and craft of writing. MWA's diverse membership
includes publishers, agents, journalists, professional
freelancers, published authors, writers aspiring to be
published, and those who write as a creative outlet.

The goal of our Novel Contest is to help aspiring authors
by providing a reputable literary critique and contest
experience. Our method is to run the MWA Novel Contest
as if it were the "front office" of a literary agency
or publishing house.

The MWA Novel Contest's submission package is patterned
on the materials commonly requested by an agent or editor
in response to a successful query letter. MWA contest
volunteers screen and cull submissions following the same
criteria used by agents and editors.  Our contest judges
critique and score the entry's effectiveness in meeting a
standardized set of novel style and content criteria.

Editors and Agents are inundated with submissions. They look
for the first excuse to toss your work and put a generic
rejection letter into your SASE. Such letters are normally
devoid of hints on improving your effort.

Unlike an agency or publishing house, the MWA Novel Contest
will provide participants with detailed and well-intentioned
feedback about their submission(s). Each submission is critiqued
by at least two contest judges. Judges names will be published
on the MWA web site after judging is complete. In the event of
a tie, reserve judges will also critique and score the submissions.
Every aspect of your submission is evaluated, and the detailed
evaluation results will be sent to you in the SASE.
